Why My Poems Don't Rhyme

I think I was absent the day they taught us to rhyme.
And after that, like every other missed class, I never learnt it by myself.
But quite similar to how unknown concepts come up quite frequently on exams,
The question “Why doesn’t your poetry rhyme?” comes up quite frequently in my dear readers’ minds.
There isn’t a rulebook that says poetry has to rhyme but psychology says it helps if it does.
So, for psychology’s sake, I’ll try to rhyme.
And for what follows, I apologize in advance
I’m told it gets better with time.
As someone who's struggled with choosing the right pair of glasses
Or the perfect combination of classes
I don't have much hope
That I'll be able to cross this slippery slope.
I’ll be honest before I begin
Every previous attempt at rhyming has ended up in the bin.
This time I’ll go line by line
And hopefully it will turn out fine.

Well looks like that’s the end of my luck.
Two paragraphs in, and I’m already stuck.
Dear readers, I’ll see you another time,
Hopefully with a much better rhyme.
Looks like you weren't absent afterall 😅
